Home Office: Self-Care

Axel Alvarado Chávez

Finishing work sometimes means spending many hours sitting in front of the computer, and what collapses is not Photoshop, but our body (and then Photoshop too).

We share these tips with you to help you take care of your body in your home office and keep your creativity flowing:

Choose your space

The first thing you have to do is choose a place where you can work comfortably.

Good lighting is key; your eyesight will thank you for it. Avoid glare on your screen and dark workspaces; these will only tire your eyes.

Also, use a chair that gives you good back support ; productivity ends when your butt gets tired.

Good posture

Settle in so you can stay comfortable and creative for hours.

Some experts say your desk is in the ideal position if your arms are bent at 90º to the table when you are sitting and your feet touch the floor .

Your screen should be at eye level (no need to bend your neck up or down—no cheating) and an arm's length away from you (we found this video of a guy who explains it well). You can also apply this to your video calls.

Rest those little eyes

Work often involves spending long hours in front of a computer, and that can put a strain on our eyes. Sometimes you even get a headache, blurry vision, or dry eyes.

Use the 20-20-20 rule to keep your vision fresh: Every 20 minutes, look at an object off your screen that is 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds.

Let's move

After several hours of hard work, your body needs a break. Treat yourself and get up to do some stretches, at least once an hour .

Move your neck and shoulders to relax your joints . Release pressure on your back by rotating your torso and stretching until you reach for the sky and then your toes.

Finally, get your legs moving . Walk around and enjoy the view or grab a delicious snack. You deserve a reward after working so hard.
