Orange and Teal: efecto de Color en Lightroom

Orange and Teal: Color effect in Lightroom

Axel Alvarado Chávez

Orange and teal is a very popular photography color effect , you've probably seen it on your Instagram feed or even in a movie.

This time, we did a photoshoot with Fher Ugalde (find her on Insta as @fher.ugalde) and a very cool outfit that she prepared for the Hola Cara de Bola II shirt.

Experiment with your photos and give them that cinematic look , here's how:

Basic Settings

In every photograph, you should start with the basic adjustments. Go to Lightroom's Develop menu to get started.

One tip is to edit in the order given in the Lightroom menus , from top to bottom. This will make your workflow much more organized.

Contrasts

Adjust the contrast in your photo by sliding the sliders. You'll find it's very simple. Remember to maintain details in the highlights and shadows so your photo doesn't look too exaggerated.

Clarity

Increase the detail with Clarity. Avoid going to the extremes of the bar; it creates a very strange and exaggerated effect (unless that's what you're going for).

Crop or Cutout

Use this tool to adjust the framing of your photo. Use thirds to draw attention to the subject of your shot. If the frame is too large, change the look of your photo.

Calibration Menu

This menu modifies the colors in all pixels of your photograph .

For example, "Primary Green" will move the green colors in general, and the entire photo will change (as opposed to moving only the "green tone" bar in the "HSL/Color menu", there only the pixels that are green will change).

Adjust "Primary Blue" to move that color, and you'll see that the effect is almost complete. Then adjust "Primary Red " to finish the effect.

Last details

Go to the "HSL/Color" menu to modify the tones that you are not yet satisfied with.

Use linear and radial gradients to selectively enhance highlights and shadows. Use these tools to focus attention on the subject of your photo.
