Video Calls for Pro Creatives
Axel Alvarado ChávezVideo calls for everything: meetings, classes, courses, get-togethers with friends, almost even walking the dog.
Making a video call is easy, yes, but not as easy as "well, you just stand there and talk, right?" as Chamuquito thought.
A video call reveals more of you than you think, take advantage of this to unleash your creative personality .
Prepare your tools
Have everything you need on hand so you don't have to wait around. You could miss the best part of the meeting (for example, I don't know what Chamuquito said to me about taking the photo) .
The basics: hands-free for clear listening and speaking, Good internet and your computer. If you're going to use your phone, I recommend mounting it on a tripod.
To make sure no ideas get left hanging, a pencil and a notebook are a must . And, of course, a cup of coffee to chat with.
Clothes (from the hips up) speak about you
In real life, you choose your clothes specifically for each occasion, don't you?
Well, the same applies to your video calls. Make a good impression, even if you're in a small box on someone else's screen.
Combine styles and colors creatively until you have the perfect outfit for that video call, one that reflects your personality in just the right tone.
Always wear comfortable clothes on top and bottom, it doesn't matter, after all, it won't even be seen in the video.
Choose your space
Keep in mind that the other person will see your background, use this to your advantage:
1. Avoid dirty funds , nobody wants to see your mess.
2. Let your creations speak for you, you can show a little of your work in the background.
3. The foolproof plain, clean, and simple background . Chamuquito got a green background and went crazy changing it up.
Take care of the light
Unless you want to be a mysterious silhouette, always have a window in front of you. We're sure the other people on the video call are eager to see your beautiful face.
If you stand against the light (with the light behind you) , you'll look very dark, and that could give the wrong message. If that's not an option, you can shine a lamp toward your face.
The perfect angle
Place your computer or phone in front of you , as if you were looking into the other person's eyes. At this angle, your face will look natural (i.e., beautiful), almost like real life.
What happens if you put your device under you? You'll end up with a massive double chin, so I don't recommend it. I also don't recommend putting it above you; from that angle, you'll look very short.
Finally, position yourself at a comfortable distance from your device, where you can see and be seen well.
Chamuquito and I hope these tips help you have great video calls; make the most of them to show off your creative side.
