Level: All levels

We have 3 MSI (months without interest) through Mercado Pago!

This workshop consists of a 3-hour in-person class , including coffee and snacks, where you'll be guided step-by-step through drawing your pet (dog or cat) using a custom-made template. It also includes an additional online group session via Zoom for a final review of your work.

What do I need to know to take the course?

This course is designed for all levels, whether you're a beginner or an expert . Using a personalized template, you'll be guided through drawing your pet using ink and hatching techniques, creating a style similar to the pets seen in the images.*

If this is your first time drawing , I recommend you complete the first two levels of my free manual Letting Go of Your Hand: Start Drawing , where you can strengthen your foundations and stroke control so you're better prepared for the course.

If you have any questions, please write to our Instagram and we'll check it out together!

*Please note that the final result may vary from person to person depending on their style and abilities.

What to expect from the course?

This course is taught by our illustrator Jordan Alvarado (co-creator of Cara de Bola), who will share his tips and secrets for creating a portrait of your pet using the hatching technique with stylographs, like the style seen in the images.

This workshop is aimed at people who want a guide to adding texture and finishing touches to their dog or cat's coat and body, and to successfully draw their pet.

During the 3-hour in-person session , over a cup of coffee , you'll be guided step-by-step through drawing your pet using a personalized template. I'll show you how to create your cat or dog's fur, highlighting and shading, following the aesthetics seen in the images. The course includes printing your template, two disposable stylus pens, and special paper for the final artwork.

During the online group session (approximately 1h30-2h30) , you will be provided with follow-up support so you can complete your illustration with the highest quality possible based on each student's abilities. Since this is only a follow-up session, you don't need to stay for the entire session (unless you choose).

Duration, place and times

1st in-person session: Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. (CDMX time). The venue is located in downtown Mexico City, a 15-minute walk from the Bellas Artes metro station. The exact location will be shared upon registration.

2nd online session via Zoom: Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 9:00 am (CDMX time).

Materials included:

- This course includes a printed template for creating your dog or cat illustration (the course only covers a template for a single pet, approximately 12x12cm in size), as well as special paper so you can create your final artwork. To do this, you'll need to submit a photo of your pet (preferably in high resolution), which will be used to create the template.
Only half the body (chest and head) will be considered and all extra details in the photo (e.g. background elements) will be omitted.

To create the best possible quality template, please send your photo to caradebolamx@gmail.com at least three days before the course begins. If you're unsure whether your photo will work, please contact us and we'll discuss it together.

-2 disposable stylographs that will be given to you in the course so you can work.
